The United States and the European Union (EU) have imposed additional human rights-related sanctions on Iran.
These sanctions were imposed to mark the one-year anniversary of the mysterious death of a person not wearing a hijab in Iran, targeting individuals and organizations involved in human rights abuses, including the suppression of protests at the time.
The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced yesterday (15th) that it would impose sanctions on 25 individuals, including key members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Law Enforcement Forces (LEF), three state-run media outlets, and one internet company in connection with this incident.
