Dr. Hannah Cain, a 45-year-old physician who treated members of the UK royal family including Queen Camilla, was found dead in her home near the Sandringham estate on Sunday following a fatal assault during a children’s sleepover. Her husband, Mark Cain, has been arrested and charged with her murder, according to announcements from local authorities and the Crown Prosecution Service.

Norfolk Constabulary officers responded to the property in Fern Hill in Dersingham, Norfolk, at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Sunday. They discovered an unresponsive woman in her 40s who was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. The residence, valued at $1.1 million, is situated just one mile from the Sandringham Estate. Prosecutor Jackie Hanlon stated at a hearing in Norwich Magistrates Court that children were present in the property at the time of the attack, which occurred after the victim had hosted a sleepover for her three children and their friends on Saturday night.

Mark Cain Faces Charges After Medical Findings

Medical findings revealed that Dr. Cain, who was known professionally as Dr. Hannah Terry and served as a member of the practice team at Grimston Medical Centre, suffered a blunt force injury to the right side of her head along with an injury potentially suggestive of compression of the neck. Mark Cain, a 45-year-old energy company director, was charged by the Crown Prosecution Service on Tuesday. Regarding the ongoing legal process, the Crown Prosecution Service noted, We have worked carefully with Norfolk Police during their investigation.

Medical Centre Closes as Family Remembers Doctor

King Charles and Queen Camilla, who attended The Braemar Gathering in Scotland on September 5, were informed of her death. Grimston Medical Centre closed on Monday and Tuesday, releasing a statement that it would not comment on the circumstances surrounding the death and that official updates would come from Norfolk Police. Cain’s family issued a statement remembering her as kind, generous, and loving, stating, We are incredibly proud of the woman she was and of the great care she took of all her patients who knew her as Dr Terry. Friends observed that the doctor had appeared stressed and distracted during the school run in the days preceding the incident, a demeanor described as out of character. The agency added, Our thoughts remain with the family of Hannah Cain at this time.
