HP has expanded its peripheral lineup with the introduction of the HyperX Cloud Alpha Air, the brand’s first open-back gaming headset priced at $150, alongside the 47-gram carbon-fiber Pulsefire Haste 3 Pro mouse, new colorways, and upgraded AMD desktop configurations slated for a September rollout.
Engineering Acoustic Balance in the Cloud Alpha Air
For over a decade, peripheral manufacturer HyperX carved out its market share across everything from RAM modules to solid-state storage. Now, the company is tackling a fundamental physics problem in acoustic engineering. Open-back headset designs traditionally bleed low-end frequencies, sacrificing the deep bass response that players rely on to isolate directional cues like distant explosions or subtle footsteps.
To solve this, the $150 Cloud Alpha Air incorporates a mechanical component known as a Bass Tube. This architectural addition aims to maintain low-end thump without muddying the critical midrange and high frequencies.
Inside the chassis, 40mm dynamic drivers sit behind metallic grilles. The physical build utilizes plush foam earpads wrapped in ultrasuede, mounted to a rigid metal headband. The hardware features a low nominal impedance of 34 ohms.
To mitigate this, HyperX packages the headset with a USB adapter alongside traditional 3.5mm and PC extension cords.
Connectivity options span a 3.5mm cord, a PC extension cable with dedicated audio and mic jacks, and a USB adapter featuring both USB-A and USB-C connections. On the software side, configuration relies on the free HyperX NGENUITY application for equalizer adjustments and sound profile management.
Shedding Grams with the Pulsefire Haste 3 Pro Mouse
Moving from audio to input devices, the company also unveiled its lightest gaming mouse to date. The Pulsefire Haste 3 Pro drops down to a mere 47 grams by utilizing an exoskeleton carbon-fiber shell.
Priced at $130, the mouse packs a high-performance sensor capable of scaling up to 42,000 DPI. Operating in wireless mode at a 1K polling rate, the hardware yields up to 150 hours of continuous battery life.
Budget-conscious buyers have alternative tiers available. A standard Pro Model featuring a traditional plastic shell drops the price to $90, while a purely wired iteration enters the market at $40.
Ecosystem Refresh and Desktop Upgrades
Beyond brand-new hardware families, HP is refreshing several existing product lines with fresh aesthetic options. New color combinations are rolling out for the HyperX Cloud III S, the Cloud III Wired, and the Cloud Flight 2.

On the desktop side, the Omen 35L system receives updated AMD-based configurations. However, the hardware maker has stopped short of announcing new standalone gaming laptops or desktop towers alongside this drop.
The Cloud Alpha Air launches strictly as a wired peripheral, though the manufacturer has left the door open for a potential wireless revision down the road. All announced hardware variations and color updates go on sale beginning in September.
