Hyundai Motor, ‘IONIQ 5’ ranked first in German Automoto and Sport comparison evaluation… 4th already

[e대한경제=이근우 기자] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 31st that the ‘IONIQ 5’ beat the Volkswagen ID.

This is the first time that the Ioniq 5 competed against the Volkswagen ID.5 in a comparative evaluation of a German automobile magazine.

This comparative evaluation was conducted across seven evaluation items, including body, safety, comfort, powertrain, driving behavior, environment, and economic feasibility, targeting three electric vehicle models: IONIQ 5, ID.5, and Polestar 2.

The IONIQ 5 took first place in three categories, including body, powertrain, and economy, with a total score of 617, beating Polestar 2 (588 points) and ID.5 (586 points). .

The IONIQ 5 received the highest score (108 points) compared to comparable vehicles in the body category, which evaluates interior space, versatility and functionality, and omnidirectional visibility, and also scored 90 points, the highest score in the powertrain category, which is considered the core competitiveness of electric vehicles. Received recognition for product competitiveness. It also recorded the highest score (132 points) in the economic evaluation category, which evaluates sales price, residual value, repair cost, and fuel cost.

AMS said, “Ioniq 5 is an electric vehicle that has the advantages of not only fast charging speed, but also high space utilization and smooth driving experience.”

With this win, the IONIQ 5 overtook all major overseas electric vehicles in the four electric vehicle comparison evaluations conducted by AMS. After winning the Volkswagen ID.4 in October of last year, it overtook Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E in April this year, and in June compared with Audi Q4 40 e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQA250, Renault Megan E-Tech EV60. took first place in the evaluation.

Meanwhile, AMS is one of Germany’s top three car magazines, along with Auto Bild and Auto Zeitung. In the case of the Ioniq 5, it also won the ‘2022 World Car of the Year’, which is given to the best global car.
