Luxembourg influencer“I did not want to remain a spectator”: Dylan leaves for Turkey

Influencer Dylan Thiry is on his way to Turkey, where the earthquake has killed more than 31,000 people. The Luxembourger wants to find survivors under the rubble.

Dylan Thiry will help in Turkey after the earthquake.

He did not want “to remain a spectator of what is happening in Turkey”. Luxembourg influencer Dylan Thiry announced on Tuesday his departure for the earthquake-affected area, determined to help in the search for survivors.

“I have a group of friends who are where there was the earthquake (…) They were able to save two people and can still hear people breathing under the rubble (…) Tomorrow (ed.: Wednesday), I join them”, explained on social networks the young man, who says he is ready to offer “100%” of his energy “to help as many people as possible”.

The Luxembourger discovered in Koh-Lanta is not his first humanitarian experience. In 2020, he had participated in a mission to Senegal. Last year, he stayed in Madagascar for some time to take part in infrastructure transformation projects.

More recently, a complaint for organized fraud and breach of trust was filed by participants in open pots as part of these trips. “Behind this collective, there are people who are bored, social cases. They criticize influencers to create buzz and become bloggers”, had swept the Luxembourger from Dubai.

A dramatic toll

The toll of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake continues to grow and could even “double” according to the UN: it amounted Monday evening to more than 35,000 dead in Turkey and Syria.

“72,663 people may have lost their lives and 193,399 people may be injured,” according to a report by the employers’ association Turkonfed published by Turkish media on Monday. The economic cost of the earthquake could reach “84.1 billion dollars”, indicates the same source.
