I don’t want that jersey for him; The Argentine superstar rejected the number 10 jersey

Teams give the number 10 jersey to the best players in football teams or the most important players in the team. Some teams keep the number 10 as an icon and retire it.

A.S. Roma is one such club. The team’s all-time legend, Francisco Totti, wore the number 10 jersey there. Tenth when he retired

The number jersey was also retired by Roma. But Argentine superstar Paulo Dybala, who joined the team from Juventus this summer, was offered the number 10 jersey by Roma and Totti.

But Dybala rejected this. The player who joined Roma as a free agent after the end of the Juventus contract chose the twenty one jersey instead of the number ten jersey as in Juventus.

Out of respect for Totti, the player declined the number 10 jersey. Dybala said it was very important for what he did. Dybala believes it still belongs to Totti.

“The director suggested that I wear the number 10 jersey. It is very important here because of what Totti did. It is still his. I thanked them. Because a jersey like that deserves respect and responsibility,’ said Dybala.

He says he will wear that jersey someday, but now is not the time. Dybala added, “I am satisfied with the number 21 jersey.

‘Sometimes I wear it. But now I am very happy with the number 21 jersey. I have won with this number and it is with me.’ Dybala said while talking to the media.

Dybala stated that despite the offer of Inter Milan and AC Milan, the reason why he chose Roma was because Mourinho called him directly and explained the team’s plans exactly. The player, who has currently started training with the team, is expected to make his debut for the Italian team in the friendly match against Tottenham on July 30.
