Faina Ranevskaya
The legendary Faina Georgievna Ranevskaya never started a family in her long life. The old age of the actress was observed by her friends, in particular, the artist Elena Kamburova. She had bright, but very sad memories of those years.
In a new interview, Elena Kamburova recalled a lot about her illustrious colleague. Faina Georgievna once noted an aspiring singer when she heard her voice on the radio. Ranevskaya even decided, for the first time in her life, to send a letter to the editor to praise the girl who read Nuncha from Tales of Italy on the air.
A little later, the artists met in person. Kamburova came to visit Faina Georgievna in company with her friend and sat quietly on a chair in the corner of the room. At the end of the visit, Ranevskaya unexpectedly said: “Baby, it’s good that you are not fifa! You have the same defect as me. Modesty”. Since then, Elena began to visit the elderly artist more often.
“In the last years of her life, due to her state of health, Faina Georgievna almost did not leave the house and felt very lonely. She was glad for the arrival of friends and colleagues in the theater and almost always, saying goodbye, tried to give something,” Kamburova now recalls.
Ranevskaya presented her with a fox skin for a collar, shoes, a velvet dress of Alisa Koonen herself, and even a gypsy romance. The legend of cinema and theater really wanted to take care of someone and be needed. Faina Georgievna even agreed to make a home recording of this very romance, which to this day is kept by Kamburova.
Out of the kindness of her soul, Ranevskaya gave away many valuable things to her friends and at the end of her life was left with practically nothing. Elena Antonovna once noticed that all the records had disappeared from the actress’s apartment.
“Apparently, she gave them to someone, or they “left” themselves, because the door to the apartment was not locked,” the actress shared.
Several times Kamburova and Ranevskaya celebrated the New Year together. They talked and listened to music. And once they looked at an album with photographs of dogs of different breeds, after which Faina Georgievna suddenly fell asleep, not noticing that midnight was about to strike.
“So, in a dream, Faina Georgievna met her last year. Then I also lay down in another room and that night I had a special dream: I was lying on the grass, and suddenly it began to grow rapidly under me, lifted me above the ground, and I I take off higher and higher. Never again have I dreamed of anything like this … “, Kamburova recalls sadly.
