I lost 50 lakhs due to delay of Mammooka’s flight; After that, Mammooka quarreled with me: Dinesh Panicker
Dinesh Panicker produced the movie Stalin Sivadas starring Mammootty in the lead role. Khushbu played the female lead in the 1999 film. Dinesh Panicker talks about the losses this film has caused him.
Dinesh said that it was a film he had to do because he didn’t like the script and Mammootty decided to do it under pressure.
But Dinesh said that he did not think that the film would fail and the main reason for the failure was the release of Suresh Gopi’s film in the meantime. He added that he lost Rs 50 lakh. He said these things through his YouTube channel.
“I really wanted to make a film with Mammooka. So I told him a story. He liked the story. When all the things of Mammooka came together, then I moved on to the rest.
Damodaran Mash is writing the script. So it was decided to start the movie in 1998 and release the movie in 1999. But when I read the script written by Damodaran Mash, I felt that I had reached my expectations.
It had more number of scenes. So the movie will be in the theater for three hours. He said we can fix it all. By then two or three months had passed. However, there was no correction as expected. I met Mammooka and told him that I am not doing this film. By that time I had given an advance of five lakh rupees to Mammooka.
He asked me what was wrong. I told him that I am not interested in doing this project. Mammooka was shocked. Because there were barely two more months to start. I told him that I didn’t like the script when I asked him to tell me.
Mamooka got really angry when he heard that. He said that it can be done. Mammooka seemed to have a fight with me after that. He decided to take the next flight to Chennai. I thought not. He was taken to the airport.
Mammooka said to think again. When I heard that talk of Mammooka, I got lost in it. I decided to do the film no matter how bad it was. The film was shot in 25 days. First it was decided to name it as Red Flag. Then I thought that I don’t want the touch of the party. Stalin named Shivdas.
Suresh Gopi’s Patra was released on the third day of the film which had a good collection. I missed it a lot. My picture of Mammooka in the midst of it did not rise above it. So the newspaper trampled us. On the third day we went down. Had to end with no collection at all.
That movie did me no small loss. 50 lakh is a loss of Rs. “I had joked somewhere then that Mammooka’s flight was delayed, so I lost Rs 50 lakh,” said Dinesh Panicker.
