by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

The murder of a journalist, the increase in attacks on informants by the FARC dissidents and other armed groups, as well as the continuous attacks by the Colombian president, Gustavo Petroto the media, are some of the concerns expressed by the Inter American Press Association (IAPA).

This is reflected in the annual report on Colombia, which is awaiting approval during the 80th General Assembly of the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA), which takes place in Mendoza, Argentina, from October 17 to 20.

“The murder of a journalist, the escalation of attacks against the press by public officials and threats against members of the media represented the most worrying events in this period,” highlights the organization.

In a paragraph of the text he points out the murder of Jaime Vásquez, which occurred on April 14 in Cúcuta, a city on the border with Venezuela. Vásquez was dedicated to investigating and reporting through social networks about cases of corruption related to public procurement and bidding.
