IBM and VMware Collaborate to Bring Generative AI to On-Site Environments

2023-11-07 13:16:02

IBM announced on Tuesday that it would collaborate with cloud computing specialist VMware to help businesses adopt generative AI.

The two technology groups explain that they intend to make Watsonx, IBM’s artificial intelligence platform, available in ‘on-site’ environments, that is to say where their critical operations are located.

The idea is to promote the implementation of ‘rapid and transparent’ generative AI functionalities, they explain in a press release.

This offering should allow companies to access watsonx in private environments, on-premises, on infrastructure as a service (IaaS), as well as in the ‘hybrid cloud’.

VMware – which is currently holding its ‘VMware Explore’ conference in Barcelona – also announced on Tuesday that it had sealed a collaboration agreement with Intel to develop AI ‘in all environments’, whether in data centers, public cloud or edge computing.
