Iddat Nikah case: Hearing on appeals against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi’s sentence adjourned till April 24 – Pakistan

The Islamabad District and Sessions Court warned against adjudicating appeals without prosecution in the PTI founder Imran Khan Idt case, following which complainant Khawarmanika’s lawyer Rizwan Abbasi appeared in court and opened arguments. He also indicated to resort to black law dictionary. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 24.

Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjamand heard the appeals filed in the Nikah case in Idt. Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Manika’s lawyer Raja Rizwan Abbasi did not appear in the preliminary hearing.

The junior lawyer appeared before the court and told that Raja Rizwan Abbasi is busy in the Supreme Court. He requested the court to fix 11.30 am for the hearing. On which the session judge said that I have given a warning if Rizwan Abbasi does not come to the court today then I will decide the case. After which the hearing was adjourned till 11:30.

After adjournment, Rizwan Abbasi appeared in the court on behalf of the complainant Khawarmanika and started arguments.

Lawyer Rizwan Abbasi took the stand that there is no importance of marriage during Eid, the marriage of the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi is illegal, the accused also took away the rights of Khawarmanika’s children.

He said that some things were told contrary to the facts, for some things in this case I will take the help of Black Law Dictionary, there are statements of two important witnesses in the case.

In the arguments, Rizwan Abbasi, while reading the decision of the trial court, took the stand that the accused were charged under 496, according to the statements of two important witnesses in the case, the marriage took place during Eid.

The judge inquired that whether the founder PTI was also asked for the material related to Nikah.

Rizwan Abbasi said that the PTI founder had asked Nikah Khawan to remarry, both the accused were aware of the marriage in Iddah, the marriage was a fraud which was proved, the accused were charged and sentenced.

When Khawarmanika’s lawyer pleaded for adjournment of the hearing, Salman Akram Raja opposed it.

On the question of Judge Shahrukh Arjamand, Rizwan Abbasi said that it will take four to five hours for the arguments and adjourn the hearing till May.

Salman Akram Raja objected once again and termed delay tactics, however the court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 24.
