More than half (64%) of companies that have a CSC (Shared Services Center) in Brazil invest in carrying out trainings and workshops related to culture, according to a survey of the IEG (Institute of Management Engineering) at MIA – Market Intelligence Application Shared Services – CSC data platform.

Culture is understood as the set of norms, values, beliefs, vision and mission, as well as the behavior that characterizes how the members and employees of a corporation interact with each other and with external parties.

Still according to data compiled at MIA, other initiatives to strengthen the SSC culture highlighted by the companies analyzed are leadership training (53%) and carrying out internal marketing actions (40%).

The survey also shows that 35% of companies consider defining or reviewing the CSC Mission, Vision and Values. For Lara Pessanha, partner and responsible for the Market Intelligence Area at IEG, these initiatives reinforce companies’ concern in ensuring that employees are aligned with the purpose of the CSC so that they better understand this management model.

“Employees must be aligned with the purpose of the CSC so that they better understand this management model and play their role in supporting business operations”, explains Pessanha. “Employees’ understanding is considered fundamental by companies so that they can carry out their role, with leadership prepared to set an example and engage the team in favor of the objectives set”, she adds.

In general, for the specialist, business culture is seen as an important element to increase employee engagement in companies of different sizes and sectors.

IEG consolidates information from more than 200 companies that have a SSC in Brazil through a series of surveys carried out with the aim of creating an overview of this Shared Services market. Most statistics are available in MIA.
