World number one Iga Swiatek advanced to the third round of the Italian Open after a landslide win 6-0, 6-2 over Bernarda Pera.

The Polish tennis player performed brilliantly after becoming champion at the Madrid Open last week to win in 78 minutes.

In the third round of the Italian Open, Swiatek will face world number 41 Yulia Putintseva after the Kazakh tennis player beat American (US) Sloane Stephens 6-3, 6-2.

After Pera’s victory, Swiatek admitted that she was happy to be back appearing in Rome.

“The conditions here are very different from in Madrid,” said Swiatek. “You have to adjust your game and the ball feels heavier. I had to train for two days before appearing in this match.”

“I had a fun week in Madrid. I’m also happy to be back here. I have beautiful memories here,” he continued.
