THE FILM Vina: Before 7 Days, which tells a story about victims of motorcycle gang violence, managed to attract 335,812 viewers on its first day of screening, and is included in the list of all time top opening day Indonesian films.
Quoted in a press release from the film production house, Thursday (9/5), Dee Company CEO and Producer, Dheeraj Kalwani, said that this achievement raised optimism regarding the resolution of the motorcycle gang violence case in Cirebon in 2016.
“One of the reasons the family agreed to make this film is because there are still three perpetrators who have not been arrested. Without this film, people will forget and not care. We hope the police will act decisively when many viewers join in voicing justice for Vina,” he said.
He also said that with so many viewers watching the film, he hopes that many people will join in praying for Vina, a victim of motorcycle gang violence whose story is featured in the film.

The film Vina: Before 7 Days tells the story of the death of Vina, who was suspected of having been in a single motorbike accident after her body was found on the Cirebon flyover.
Vina’s grandmother suspects that her grandson’s death was unnatural but does not have enough evidence. Vina’s spirit was then said to have possessed her friend’s body to help uncover the facts about her death.
Director Anggy Umbara said that the film also shows problems in law enforcement.

“In Indonesia, the law doesn’t work properly. What we want to convey through this film is, let’s build awareness together. Let’s stop here, let’s not have another Vina,” he said.
“What we want to convey especially to the government, other authorities, let’s enforce the law together. Don’t be blunt upwards, but sharp downwards,” added Anggy.
He hopes that the film Vina: Before 7 Days can help increase people’s awareness of the environment and increase people’s awareness to help prevent bullying. (Ant/Z-1)
