Ikea, Spotify, Apple, Volkswagen… Corporate boycotts against Russia are on the rise

Some key sectors, such as energy and technology, however, are more reluctant to take action against the world’s 11th largest economy.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of companies that have taken action:

  • Car manufacturers

The automotive giant Toyotafor example, said it would halt production at its St. Petersburg plant from Friday and suspend vehicle exports to Russia.

Japanese automakers Nissan, Honda and Subaru stop exporting cars and motorcycles to Russia, and Mazda will also stop supplying parts for a Russian factory.

The German car manufacturer Volkswagen announced Thursday the cessation, until further notice, of its production of vehicles in Russia. The 12-brand giant will also stop exporting to the Russian Federation.

Other car manufacturers, like Mercedes-Benzannounced similar measures.
