The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, showed images captured inside the embassy in Quito during the assault carried out by Ecuadorian forces to take away former vice president Jorge Glas.
The images reveal how armed personnel from Ecuador entered the embassy, pointing firearms and subduing the head of the Foreign Ministry, Roberto Canseco, who tried to prevent Glas from being taken away.
Police forces later took Glas out of the embassy by lifting his arms and legs. López Obrador announced that this video will be evidence for the complaint that Mexico will present before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

In addition, he stated that the raid on the embassy was a violation of international law and noted that Mexico faces a campaign against its Government.
The diplomatic crisis between Mexico and Ecuador began when the Ecuadorian government declared the Mexican ambassador persona non grata in response to comments by López Obrador about a political assassination in Ecuador.
The situation escalated when Mexico announced that it would seek political asylum for Glas, which led to the invasion of Ecuadorian forces at the Mexican embassy in Quito.
The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) will have meetings to address the crisis.
