“Tintin, the immersive adventure”… The exhibition immerses visitors in the world of comics which, for almost a century, has seduced generations of readers. It is currently taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland. “Mapping”, the video technology used, allows visitors to “travel” to the heart of the adventures of Hergé’s hero.

When Tintin drawings come to life. The outlines of the boxes have disappeared and, from floor to ceiling, visitors find themselves projected into the world of the comic book hero. From his trip to the moon to his underwater adventures, the investigations of the famous hair-puffing reporter are recounted in 35 minutes. The exhibition, which has already won over the public in Paris in 2022, is currently making a stopover in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Accompanied by a pop rock soundtrack favored by Hergé, from the Beatles to David Bowie, the immersion is total. “There, I really managed to return when I was little. I opened my book, then I immersed myself in it. I just felt like I was reliving those fantastic moments when I was little“, testifies a Friborg resident.

Another visitor appreciates the video mapping he finds “amazing“, before adding: “It’s great technology. They animated the characters. They made connections between the walls, the ceiling, it’s very immersive.

Music gives Tintin a new dimension. “The idea of not having voice-over, words, narration means that it is only a dialogue between the music and the images. There is great strength. We realize that these images, which have always been with us, work really well with this pop music from the 60s and 70s.“, evokes Vincent Sager, the director of Opus One, the organization which organizes the exhibition. Which allows, according to him, Tintin to register “in several decades”.

Since Tintin among the Soviets in 1929, Hergé, the master of the clear line, this simple and stripped-down line, has touched generations of readers through 24 albums, which have become cult.

And this risks being perpetuated: for one of the children that day, “we discover many facets of the world and that allows us to travel“. A father expresses the pleasure of sharing the hero’s adventures with his children.
