The damage that a simple trickle of water can cause should not be taken lightly. The proof in Couillet (Charleroi), on the road to Châtelet, this Thursday: the ceiling collapsed from the 1st and 2nd floor of a house, right into the kitchen. Fortunately, no one was below at the time.

Apparently, a leak had existed in the bathroom for several years, and the water had gradually eaten away at the structure of the upper floor. The family who lived there had to be rehoused by the social services of the City of Charleroi. Their home was declared unsanitary and the firefighters were forced to order an evacuation due to the risk of other elements falling.

An expert was expected this Friday to take stock of the situation.
