During the year 2022, more than 1,297,500 people received some type of care at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Tlaxcala, including 583,403 family medicine consultations and more than 10,000 surgeries, revealed Fernando Moncada Jiménez, head of the Headquarters of Medical Services in the state.
Of the 24 specialties offered between the Zone General Hospital (HGZ) number One “La Loma”, the Subzone General Hospital (HGSZ) number 8 in Tlaxcala and the Zone General Hospital with Family Medicine Unit (HGZ/UMF) number 2 in Apizaco, the services with the highest demand were: Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Traumatology and Orthopedics, where a total of 70 thousand 124 consultations were granted
Moncada Jiménez specified that as part of the preliminary information for the 2022 financial year, more than one million 297 thousand 500 people have received some type of care at the IMSS Tlaxcala, highlighting 583 thousand 403 family medicine consultations, 157 thousand 429 specialty consultations, 395 thousand 867 diagnostic studies, 135 thousand 318 hospital discharges, 15 thousand 498 attentions of the Preventimss service and more than 10 thousand surgeries.
The head of Medical Benefit Services reported that, of the total number of surgeries reported, 3,104 were general surgeries, 2,469 obstetrics, 1,558 traumatology and orthopedics, 1,162 gynecology, 553 urology, 547 ophthalmology, 244 pediatric surgeries, 238 otorhinolaryngology, 77 angiology and vascular surgery, and 51 maxillofacial surgery.
In addition, 20 days of continuity of services “With the eagle well on” were held, where 25,288 family medicine consultations were granted, 2,761 specialty consultations, 6,836 diagnostic studies (laboratories and X-rays) and 273 surgeries, which are added to the aforementioned figures. Meanwhile, they were services offered on weekends, apart from the ordinary service.

He pointed out that the IMSS Tlaxcala participated in various strategies at the national level, highlighting that the state representation obtained first place in the indicators of productivity of Family Medicine, productivity of Dental Consultation and first place in External Consultation of Specialties.
