IMSS strengthens medical care with the Sixth National Conference on Continuity of Services – ContraRéplica

To strengthen access to medical care in a safe and orderly manner, in accordance with the National Plan for the Recovery of Health Services deferred by COVID-19, the Directorate of Medical Benefits (DPM) of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) carried out The Sixth National Service Continuity Conference was held, in which 3,285 surgeries were performed.

From May 27 to 29, personnel from the 35 Representative Offices of the Institute in the states and the 25 High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE) also carried out 25,924 specialty consultations, 70,644 Family Medicine consultations, 58 1,805 detections, as well as one kidney transplant and two cornea transplants.

In the permanent search to increase the opportunity in the granting of services, each Representation prioritized care according to the specialties with greater deferral of External Consultation and Surgery in Second and Third Level, as well as Integrated Preventive Actions and Family Medicine Consultation in the First Level of Attention.

Among the Outpatient services with the highest demand are Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Oncology, Traumatology and Orthopedics, and Urology; while the most requested surgical specialties are General Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Traumatology and Orthopedics, Gynecology, Ophthalmology and Onco-surgery.

As part of the actions carried out by the IMSS to provide continuity to medical services, from May 30 to June 3, the strategy “With the Well-Put Eagle” will be carried out, in order to provide ophthalmological surgery to beneficiaries.

In Baja California Sur, actions were carried out in the Family Medicine Units focused on PrevenIMSS Checkups with 3,576 visits and 136 mammograms. An Internal Medicine External Consultation Conference was held in Guerrero Negro with 150 consultations and an Intraocular Lens Placement Conference in Los Cabos, where 150 visits were provided.

In the Representation of Colima, the General Hospital of the Zone (HGZ) No. 1 gave External Consultation of Psychiatry, Traumatology and Ophthalmology; Traumatology, General Surgery and Otorhinolaryngology surgeries were scheduled; in HGZ No. 10, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology and Traumatology Outpatient Consultation was scheduled; and the Second Conference on Cataract Surgery was held with 100 benefited patients.

In Querétaro, in the External Consultation there are 53 specialties in the three hospitals of the Representation and the Ambulatory Care Medical Unit of Lomas de Casa Blanca, priority was given to the specialties with the greatest deferral: Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Traumatology and Orthopedics, General Surgery, Pulmonology, Otorhinolaryngology, Psychiatry and Ophthalmology.

In Tamaulipas, 1,490 Specialty consultations and 10,709 Family Medicine consultations and 322 surgeries were carried out; in detections, 1,840 of diabetes mellitus, 2,022 of arterial hypertension, 1,005 of breast cancer by physical examination and 225 through mammograms, as well as 437 of cervical cancer.

At the UMAE Specialty Hospital of the National Medical Center (CMN) SXXI, 887 Specialty and 47 Transplant consultations were granted; 93 surgeries were carried out, including a kidney transplant and two cornea transplants.

At the CMN La Raza Specialty Hospital, 46 surgeries were performed in the specialties of General Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, Neurosurgery, Coloproctology, Urology, Maxillofacial Surgery and Angiology; Outpatient consultation provided 193 services from the specialties of Urology, General Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Coloproctology, Hematology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology and Cardiology. In Diagnostic Auxiliaries, 242 studies and/or procedures of Nuclear Medicine, Imaging, Hemodynamics, Pacemakers and Electrophysiology were performed.

At the UMAE Hospital de Especialidades No. 2 in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, seminars were held on Otorhinolaryngology, Traumatology and Orthopedics surgeries, discectomy procedures of the fourth lumbar level through fenestration, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, as well as the procurement of two corneas and two kidneys .
