Called Turbolab, the new R&D platform on innovative aeronautical propulsion at Estia (Higher School of Advanced Industrial Technologies) is now operational in Bayonne (Pyrénées-Atlantiques). Located within the Technocité area, it is aimed in particular at manufacturers of light aircraft such as Voltaero or Aura Aéro which do not yet have their own test benches. The budget allocated to the creation of this new center amounted to 2.8 million euros with a first collaborative program led by Onera is already under study. Its technical committee brings together major industrialists in the sector including Safran and Daher as well as academic and institutional players. The school’s engineering students were also able to begin their first course on carbon-free propulsion on the latter.
