In Marseille, France, a residential building on Tivoli Street collapsed last night. According to the latest information from local authorities, five people were injured. The reasons for the collapse are unknown, one of the versions is an explosion.
“At 00:40 (01:40 Moscow time— “uh”) there was a collapse of house number 17 along Tivoli Street, houses number 15 and 19 were partially affected, ”said Marseille Mayor Benoit Payan to France-3 TV channel (TASS quote).
He added that the fire continues at the scene, which complicates search operations. Residents of adjacent buildings were evacuated.
Benoit Payan later told the TV channel ВFM about the hospitalization of five people, they are in a condition that requires “relative urgency for assistance.” He added that there is a risk of a neighboring building collapsing. According to BFM, eyewitnesses report a strong smell of gas at the scene.
