A resident of Mississippi, USA, managed to lose 365 pounds (166 kilos) in three years, without surgery or medication, reports Fox News.

Nicholas Craft, now 42, was told by his doctor he was a ‘ticking time bomb’ as his weight peaked at 649 pounds (204 kilos).

The American says he constantly turned to food to fight depression, which led him into a vicious cycle. His morbid obesity caused him pain in his knees, aches and constant shortness of breath. He could no longer fit in regular sized vehicles.

His eating habits caused him to isolate himself from family and friends, which exacerbated his sedentary lifestyle and weight gain.

Nicholas Craft nevertheless had the support of his grandmother Georgia, who encouraged him to lose weight. Shortly before her death, her grandson promised her that he would get back in shape so he could see her more.

Mr. Craft honored his promise and started taking charge of himself in 2019. He first stopped eating junk food, including fried foods and carbonated drinks.

Nicholas Craft then focused his efforts on changing his way of life. Instead of eating bread, pasta and other carbs, he started eating meals with more protein, vegetables and fruits.

The Mississippi resident has reduced his calorie intake, limiting himself to a maximum of 1200 to 1500 calories per day. He also started to move more. As he lost weight, Nicholas Craft began training with dumbbells.

Over time, he was able to regain control over his food cravings; he says he is no longer tempted by the foods he overconsumes.

Mr. Craft regained his breath and his physical pains diminished; he now has more energy and can once again board a normal vehicle.

The 42-year-old says he wishes his grandmother had seen the progress he has made.

Now 285 pounds, Nicholas Craft wants to continue shedding the extra pounds he has left in order to reach a healthy weight.
