As reported by the Directorate of Motorways of Lithuania, the reconstruction of the bridge over Nemunėlia, which was built in 1969, will begin.
The contract regarding the national road no. 123 Biržai–Pandėlys–Rokiškis reconstruction of the 48.708 km bridge over Nemunėlis has already come into force. The works will have to be completed within 13 months. from the entry into force of the contract. The contract value of the contract amounts to 1.375 million. EUR with VAT.
During the implementation of the project, reconstruction works of the existing bridge are planned, replacing the deck elements and supporting structures with new ones. It is also planned to install a rainwater collection and drainage system, install railings and fences, lay a new asphalt surface, install a common pedestrian and bicycle path that will be adapted for disabled traffic.
During the reconstruction works of the bridge, traffic will be organized by a temporary bridge installed nearby. The latest information about traffic changes will be published in a separate notice and on the Road Directorate’s traffic information website www.eismoinfo.lt.
Inspection of all bridges and viaducts in the national road network is carried out annually. During the inspection, the condition of the floor elements, the condition of the overlay and support structures, and the condition of the bridge elements are assessed. The worst bridges are included in the monitoring and monitored regularly. Road structures showing signs of poor condition are assessed individually and decisions are made immediately to ensure the safe operation of these structures, e.g. traffic restrictions and/or temporary structural solutions apply.
In the list of priority order of construction, reconstruction, capital repair, project planning, preparation and implementation of road structures (bridges, viaducts, flyovers, tunnels) on national roads, prepared by the Road Directorate, according to which the management of said infrastructure is carried out, this bridge is on the 13th place of the list .
