Metallurgical activity registered a decrease of 1.6% in September compared to the same period last year, which adds up to four falls in year-on-year terms so far this year.

This was indicated this Friday in a report from the Association of Metallurgical Industrialists of the Argentine Republic (Adimra). Compared to August, activity showed a contraction of 0.6%.

In the accumulated year, metallurgical activity remains in positive territory, but with barely 0.3% growth, which implies stagnation in real terms.

For the month of October, Adimra’s estimate – according to the advance production index – is that activity will register another contraction in the order of 1.5% to 2%.

This is linked to the problems faced by different industries that had to slow down their production due to lack of imported inputs, such as vehicle and agricultural machinery manufacturers.
