In the video – the Egyptian Minister of Health gets angry and scolds a woman for having too many children.. “How do you deal with them?”

The Egyptian Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, got angry in the face of an Egyptian woman when he learned that she had given birth to 5 children, during an awareness seminar on birth control in a village in the Assiut Governorate, south of Cairo. On the mother and children, according to what was reported by Al-Jazeera.

And local media indicated that the minister got angry at the woman, and asked her, “Will you teach them and how do you deal with them?”

The minister said that the ministry aims to establish and develop 134 health units and medical centers in Assiut governorate, within the first phase of the national project to develop Egyptian rural villages, “a decent life.”

Abdel Ghaffar called on the Assiut Health Directorate to intensify awareness seminars to limit the increase in fertility rates, pointing out that Assiut is one of the highest governorates of the republic in fertility rates, which is not in line with the ministry’s policy to limit the increase in fertility.

This behavior of the Egyptian Minister of Health was rejected by the pioneers of social networking sites, who criticized the way in which the Egyptian official responded, but others believe that his response comes as a translation of government directions and the desire of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to limit births.

The Minister of Health made statements two days ago in which he said that the fertility rates in Egypt are very high, indicating that work will be intensified on the population issue during the coming period.

The minister revealed that there are directives from the president regarding the interest in the population issue, since it entails all development plans.

The Egyptian president had previously criticized – in turn – the large number of children, and called for its reduction and regulation on more than one occasion; In 2018, Sisi emphasized that the state does not want to prevent births, but rather to control birth control.

He added, “We have done many needs during the past 50 years with the aim of controlling population growth in Egypt. This is a big issue from the days of the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, as well as President Anwar Sadat, then President Mubarak and until now.”

The Egyptian president added that the state wants to regulate childbearing, saying, “Give yourselves an opportunity of 3 or 4 years between a child and a child, and the sufficiency of two children, and the issue does not depend only on awareness.”
