Prevention Tips
Exercising regularly If you are unable to walk due to a health problem, move your arms, legs and feet for a few minutes every hour. If you know you will need to sit or stand for long periods, wear compression stockings to stimulate blood flow.
Drink plenty of fluids, such as water and juice, but avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine intake.

– Avoid holding your legs.
– Don’t wear tight clothes.
Weight loss for obese patients.
Elevate the feet for 30 minutes twice a day.
Talk to your doctor about reducing your risk factors, especially if you or any of your family members have had a blood clot.
