Marrakesh, Mar. 20 (Maroc-Actu) –
At least 18 people have died in India’s northeast state of Bihar after consuming adulterated alcohol, officials say.
The deaths were detected in Madhepura, Bhagalpur, Banka and Murliganj districts less than a week after 16 other deaths from the same cause in the same area, Indian television News 18 reports citing police sources.
The sale and consumption of alcohol has been banned since 2017 in the Indian state of Bihar, which has increased smuggling and the manufacture of artisanal liquors. Other states like Haryana, Kerala or Andhra Pradesh also banned alcohol, but eventually lifted their veto.
