India Shines in UN General Assembly – UNGA

New York – US President Joe Biden supports renewing the UN Security Council and giving permanent membership to India, Japan and Germany, a top White House official said. Much more needs to be done in this regard, he said on condition of anonymity. Addressing the UN General Assembly earlier, Biden expressed his commitment to reforming the Security Council. He also said that the Security Council should be expanded to include more permanent members and non-permanent representatives in the new world order.

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said that India has to play a more effective role globally in the current situation. He also said that Britain supports India for permanent membership of the Security Council. Terrorism is the biggest challenge facing the world. It can be tackled effectively only if everyone works together.

Cleverly also said that Britain appreciates Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Russia policy on the Ukraine issue. He also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin should consider Modi’s words ‘this is not the time for war’ to end the conflict.
