‘China is in a position to keep an eye not only on the South China Strait and Taiwan but also on India. I spend more time visiting India than any other country. Because I see India as a strategic partner of the US in the future.’- he said. He also said that the war-like zone in the Indian Ocean is very important to the US. He said that there is a border issue going on between India and China now, referring to his five-day visit to India in October.
US experts have observed that the border conflict between India and China will deal a double blow to China. Former Pentagon official Elbridge Coley told a press conference at the Quad meeting in Japan that although India could not contribute directly to the regional war in Taiwan, India could divert China’s attention to its border. Japan and the US want India to become as big a power as possible in South Asia. Then China’s attention can be diverted to India. He also said that China will have to face a second major challenge.
