Indian club’s first win in the AFC Champions League

Riyadh: Mumbai City FC made history in the AFC Champions League. Mumbai wrote in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia yesterday, an achievement that no other Indian club can claim. Mumbai’s dream achievement came when they defeated the Iraqi Air Force Club. That too for two goals once morest one.

This is the first time in the history of the tournament that an Indian club has won. Mumbai’s comeback following a two – goal deficit adds to the winning streak. Despite the heated match, no goals were scored in the first half. The Iraqi club took the lead in the 59th minute through Hammadi Ahmed. The noise lasted until the 70th minute.

Diego Mourisio scored from the penalty spot to level the score for Mumbai. Mumbai took the lead five minutes later through Rahul Becky. That, Mumbai held on until the lead final whistle blew. As a result, historic success. In the first match of the tournament, Mumbai lost to Saudi club Al Shabaab by three goals. Mumbai made a strong comeback in the second match.
