(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Sang-don = The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the 40th Industrial Technology Protection Committee meeting at the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul on the 14th and approved three cases including the export of technology in the automobile sector, and disapproved the export of technology related to secondary batteries. said he did

The Industrial Technology Protection Committee is a public-private joint organization that discusses overall industrial technology protection tasks, such as approval and designation of national key technology export and overseas M&A approval, and is chaired by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.

On the same day, the Industrial Technology Protection Committee approved one case for national key technology export approval in the automobile sector, one case for conditional export approval in the steel sector, and one case for conditional approval for overseas M&A in the shipbuilding sector.

Concerning these issues, it was judged that the risk of technology leakage was low and the impact on the domestic industry was small.

Automobiles are about providing technical data for the delivery of products for autonomous vehicles such as cameras and radars, while steel is about exporting materials presented at international forums on the latest carbon-neutral technology. The shipbuilding sector is an overseas M&A matter for institutions that possess national core technologies related to liquefied gas pressure vessels.

However, it did not approve the application for export of core technologies in the electrical and electronic fields such as materials, processes, and production technologies related to secondary batteries.

The Industrial Technology Protection Committee said, “The target technology is a state-of-the-art technology that is the basis of competitiveness in the battery industry. It was disapproved for reasons such as lack of measures,” he explained.

The case is related to L&F, which has the 3rd largest market cap on the KOSDAQ market.[066970]is known to be building a cathode material plant in the United States.

Regarding this decision, an official from the Ministry of Industry and Trade said, “It is about an individual company and has absolutely nothing to do with the IRA.”

The committee also discussed the direction of the revision of the Industrial Technology Protection Act, which is the basis for the protection of national core technologies, and future plans.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to revise the Industrial Technology Protection Act to expand the scope of deliberation, such as expanding the concept of technology export, and to resolve blind spots in technology protection.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is planning to launch the ‘Technology Security Forum’ led by the private sector this month to collect a wide range of opinions from stakeholders.
