The National Electoral Institute (INE) responded that it is not the most expensive electoral body in Latin America, since it is the only institution of its kind that, in addition to organizing elections, maintains the electoral roll, gives credentials to the entire population, supervises parties and organizes elections. radio and television times.

This morning, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador exhibited a table indicating that the INE is the electoral institute that consumes the most resources in the entire continent: “So, yes, it does apply, urgently, an austerity plan in the case of the INE, and to solve this in the best possible way, because the institution is degrading, they appear ambitious, as what matters to them is money”.

The institute replied that the voter registration and credentials they take 30 percent of the budget, which is an attribution that similar organizations do not have in the world.

He also affirms that the money given to him each year contemplates the resources for political parties, which are defined by a formula that is in the Constitution.

“The issue of the salaries of directors and directors and managers (121 and not 1,336 as has been wrongly said), is part of various constitutional controversies promoted, in accordance with law, before the SCJN”, affirmed the autonomous institution.
