Ines Sainz is a pioneer in Mexican sports television and although some colleagues criticized her at the time for boasting of being “the first” with real impact in the media as a female journalist, what the creator of the talk show “DxTips” presumes to date is that while she dominated in Azteca Deportes, in Televisa they used dozens of women to seek to compete with her.
Talking regarding the day José Ramón Fernández belittled her in his office when presenting the “DxTips” project, the blonde host recalled that in 2004 it was the journalist himself who told her that would join the TV Azteca expedition for the Olympic Games in Athenswhich he considers his first great professional opportunity.
“In 2004, for the Olympic Games, they call me at José Ramón’s office. When I arrived he told me that I did what I wanted and some things, but he asked me questions regarding Olympic sports and I left more or less well off. He asked me if he had a passport and he told me: ‘You are going to Athens with us to the Games’that was my first great coverage,” he recalled in an interview with Burro van Rankin.
But she believes that moment not only marked her career, but also influenced the measures that Televisa adopted henceforth seeking to establish sexy women checkered so that they would also talk regarding sports, although with much more ephemeral trajectories.
“That was my great opportunity because I went as a talent and as an independent producer for my programs with sponsors. There I had to sit at the same table as José Ramón, David (Faitelson), Güiri-Güiri and it was then that Televisa reacted and seeks to put a woman. No less than 40 girls have passed through Televisa since I’ve been there (on TV Azteca)there are many,” said Sainz.
In its long history that dates back to the beginning of this century, Inés Sainz has been able to interview great sports personalities such as Tom Brady, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Peyton Manning and more, in addition to being present at events such as the Olympic Games, World Cups, Super Bowl, NBA Finals and many others.
“So that I have more appreciation for Ricardo Salinas Pliego was that he played it with the first woman really on sports televisionsaying that it had potential and they wanted to play it, we went with everything,” he said regarding the opportunity that the owner of TV Azteca opened for him back in the year 2000 on the screens.
