It’s a information France Bleu Isère. A case of tuberculosis was detected at the Joseph Chassigneux college in Vinay, almost two months ago. According to the college, the sick person is fine, she has been isolated and placed under treatment. His identity has not been released, so it is not known if he is a student, a teacher or a staff member.

Screenings planned

THE parents of students were called this Monday, June 5th at the village hall of Vinay to take stock of the situation. The message is clear: don’t panic, only one case has been detected so far. On the other hand, a quarter of the students, 150 out of the 600 at the college, will have to be screened, via a blood test and a chest x-ray. A letter will be sent to the families this week, the screening will be free and paid for by the CLAT of Grenoble (center for the fight against tuberculosis).

If the result is positive, the person concerned will be isolated for three weeks and treated with antibiotics.

Do not panic

Doctor Thomas Brilmaker, who follows, in pairs, the screening protocol wants to be reassuring: “The disease is much less contagious than Covid, for example. To contract tuberculosis, you need prolonged contact with an infected person. We have procedures for defining a contact subject. We organize very broad screening so that no one passes through the cracks. Most, if not all, results are expected to be negative. But in the event that someone has been in contact with the bacteria, it can be treated immediately and effectively. Once cured, the person has no sequelae.
