Recruitment difficulties are beginning to pose problems for the rail infrastructure manager. In an attempt to seduce, a day of employment was organized on Saturday in Brussels, which was attended by the Federal Minister for Mobility Georges Gilkinet, and the Brussels Minister for Employment Bernard Clerfayt. This year, Infrabel had no less than 930 vacant positions. The latter is looking for rare pearls everywhere in Belgium, but mainly in Flanders. While the rail infrastructure manager has managed to recruit people for 277 jobs so far, Infrabel expects to be faced with more than a thousand additional jobs next year, due to departures at the pension.
“In some signaling posts, the shortage is structural, which could mean that we could soon no longer carry out activities there. We are really under pressure to recruit”, warned the CEO of Infrabel, Benoit Gilson.
At the Infrabel Academy in Molenbeek, dozens of interested people immersed themselves in the world of railway management on Saturday, either through initiations on the rail or through initiations in virtual reality. They could also pass an interview with a jury, take a medical test and simulate their future remuneration. If they agree, they can start on May 16 already at Infrabel.
The manager is looking for technical profiles, particularly for laying tracks, but also candidates for the positions of engineers, site managers, maintenance technicians, welders, train drivers works, traffic control managers at signal boxes, as well as people working on catenaries and signalling.
