The contributions collected by the INPS in 2023 amount to 214.6 billion, with an increase of 4% compared to 2022, linked to the increased hiring last year and a significant jump in assessments. Pension spending is growing, reaching almost 270 billion. Overall, collections during the year amounted to 395.86 billion with an increase of 4.43% on 2022 while payments amounted to 396.86 billion with an increase of 7.36% on 2022. The 2023 progress report

The INPS, in disseminating a summary of the final report on the production trend for 2023 accompanied by the cash flows, also underlined that in the year, in the face of 1,434 retirements, 4,791 people were hired, bringing the total staff to 26,712 employees (+14 ,63%). There are 26 million insured workers while there are 1.8 million insured businesses.

Contributions are increasing

The initiatives implemented, in line with the Government’s policies to encourage work and combat contribution evasion, have produced noteworthy results, such as a 4% increase in overall contributions compared to the previous year, for a total of 214.6 billion and an improvement in the indicator of the financial economic effectiveness of production. The outcome of the activities relating to the settlement of individual insurance accounts and the management of disputes was particularly positive. The level of individual productivity of employees exceeded the expected objective and was higher than the already positive one of 2022, above all thanks to the professionalism and commitment of all staff but also to the positive effects of digitalisation which has reduced processing times and increased efficiency. For example: the automation of the Naspi settlement allowed 82% of the requests to be settled within 15 days (4% more than in 2022).

The impact of technology

Furthermore, technology has made access to services easier, as evidenced by the significant increase in the number of users, including those of a high age group, who used online services in 2023: 58 million accesses with their own SPID, CIE o CNS of people over 65 years of age, 17 million more than in 2022. The introduction of Artificial Intelligence has also further improved the effectiveness of individual action: individual productivity was in fact 11.5% higher than to the standard.

Caridi (DG INPS): leap in quality of public welfare

«These data demonstrate a constant implementation capacity of the INPS technostructure which goes hand in hand with the planning and development capacity at the service of citizens – commented the INPS General Manager, Vincenzo Caridi -. In the interest of the weakest sections of the population and for a definitive leap in quality of public welfare. Thanks to the Pnrr, more than 100 services have been introduced and the digital skills of over 13,000 employees have been trained, also structuring a stable innovation chain for the near future.”
