Insiders say: The Halo Infinite, which is in crisis on Steam and XBox, will still get a Battle Royale

Halo Infinite is the great shooter from Microsoft. But after initial hype, it is losing more and more players on Steam and Xbox. Now insiders say: Halo Infinite will get a Battle Royale in 2022 – and it should be as big as CoD Warzone.

After initial hype, Halo Infinite has become very quiet – except when Scapegoat for Battlefield 204 hardly anyone talks about the new Halo.

There have been no significant content updates since the surprising release in November 2021, which makes it all the more clear how few maps and game modes the shooter actually has.

So Halo Infinite keeps losing players on Steam and Xbox, the number of viewers on Twitch continues to decrease. That’s why streamers like Nickmercs say Halo Infinite urgently needs a “Battle Royale mode needsotherwise it will die.

With Season 2, which starts on May 3rd, developer 343 Industries wants to tackle the problem with 2 new maps. But insiders say: a Battle Royale is yet to come, even this year.

Here you can see the trailer for Season 2 of Halo Infinite, called “Lone Wolves”:

“Special” Battle Royale should come in 2022 – and be as big as CoD Warzone

As was officially announced this week, the development studio Certain Affinity is to take on a larger role in Halo Infinite. With an enhanced partnership between 343 Industries and Certain Affinity, Halo Infinite is set to evolve in new and exciting ways.

What are the insiders saying? The trusted insider Jez Corden reports that with this partnership, a new Battle Royale mode is coming to Halo Infinite. Corden reports the following things about this new game mode, which is said to have a “special approach” to the genre:

  • The Battle Royale has the development codename “Tatanka”.
  • The mode is being developed separately from Certain Affinity while 343 Industries continues to work on Halo Infinite’s multiplayer and single player
  • It’s unclear how “traditional” this battle royale will be.
    • Dataminers have uncovered a long list of tasks that could point to many mini-objectives in the battle royale.
    • Journalist Paul Tassi speculates that there could be PvE elements with AI opponents on the map. That would be reminiscent of Titanfall 2’s multiplayer modes, among other things.
  • The mode has been in development for over two years.
  • It should be about as big as CoD Warzone.
    • So it could possibly be a standalone free game like Warzone.
  • The mode is intended to attract new players to Halo Infinite and is aimed at fans of Fortnite, CoD Warzone and Apex Legends.
  • It is said to be related to the upcoming Forge mode, which allows players to develop their own maps and game modes.

The release is planned for Season 3 or 4 of Halo Infinite, says Jez Corden. So that would probably mean August or November 2022.

This speculation is not the first to a battle royale in Halo Infinite. However, when the developers were asked about this in the past, they gave the game mode a clear rejection.

in one streaming 4 years ago 343 Industries boss Jeff Easterling said, “The only BR we’re interested in is the Battle Rifle.” If insiders are to be believed, that attitude has changed.

If these reports are confirmed, it will be exciting to see how Halo’s specifics work in a battle royale. Because in Halo Infinite even toxic gestures are part of the good manners:

In Halo Infinite, players desecrate the bodies of their victims because it’s the way to go
