Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal cords are in “great” shape as the legendary rock band gears up for two nights at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, marking their first full performances since health issues forced them to cancel their 2024 farewell tour.
Tyler, 78, is reportedly eager to return to the stage on Oct. 29 and Nov. 1 and intends to share it with several familiar faces from the music industry, according to industry insiders speaking with Page Six.
The Road Back to the Hollywood Bowl
The upcoming Los Angeles gigs will feature an evolving lineup of special guests. Organizers are currently finalizing talks with various rock figures from the past and present to join the 2001 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees as they run through tracks from their extensive catalog.
Aerosmith first teased the two-night run on social media via a video featuring Tyler alongside photographer Ross Halfin. When asked by the photographer if he missed performing, the “Dream On” singer offered a characteristic response: “Of all the things I’ve ever missed, I missed my mind the most.”
Full performances have been rare for the group since Tyler suffered a severe vocal cord injury in 2023. That medical setback ultimately led the band to call off their extensive “Peace Out” farewell tour. At the time, the group released a joint statement explaining that a complete recovery from the injury was not possible, prompting what they called a heartbreaking decision to step away from touring.
Aerosmith Collaborates with Yungblud for Live Tribute and EP
Despite stepping back from traditional touring, Aerosmith has not retired from live sets entirely. Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry, 76, joined forces with punk artist Yungblud at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards to deliver a musical tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, performing “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”
That collaboration extended into the recording studio when the band teamed up with Yungblud for a five-track EP titled One More Time, released in November 2025 as their first recording in more than a decade. Behind the scenes, insiders indicate that Tyler has spent the intervening months carefully managing his voice through dedicated rest and vocal rehabilitation.
Tyler Denies Wrongdoing Despite Band's Storied Music Career
Formed in 1970, Aerosmith cemented its place in music history with chart-topping hits such as “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” “Angel,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” and “Love in an Elevator.” The group has earned 17 Grammy nominations and four wins over a decades-long career.
