The social networking application Instagram added to its latest version the ability to search on the written messaging service “Threads”, a competitor to the X platform (formerly Twitter), in all languages.
The search feature began testing in English-speaking countries, including New Zealand and Australia, last August, before adding the rest of the English- and Spanish-speaking countries, including the United States, last September. Now, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, said that the search feature now supports all languages used in the Instagram application.
The TechCrunch website, which specializes in technology topics, stated that this update will make the application, which is currently used by about 100 million users monthly, more useful to a broader global audience.
This news also comes in the wake of reports about the imminent launch of the Threads service in the European Union. The Wall Street Journal reported that Instagram may launch the service in the European Union during this December, noting that it may provide several modes so that the user can read posts without the need to create an account on the application.
At the same time, adding search capabilities will be an essential element in the success of the service in the European Union due to its multilingualism. It will also make the Threads service more useful in more than 100 countries where Instagram is present.
The Threads team at Instagram is seeking to develop the service in response to user opinions, adding features such as a chronology of posts, a web version, a way to know which users liked the post, conducting public opinion polls, publishing drawings, an edit button to modify the post after it has been broadcast, and more, a few months after the launch of the service.
