Instagram is testing paid subscriptions to remunerate influencers

Do you want to help your favorite influencer financially? That’s good, Instagram is launching paid subscriptions.

10 creators for the test phase

Instagram Subscription is the small English name given to this program which will make it possible to financially support content creators. Currently being tested with ten influencers (@alanchikinchow, @sedona., @alizakelly, @kelseylynncook, @elliottnorris, @jordanchiles, @jackjerry, @bunnymichael, @donalleniii and @lonnieiiv), this new tool will offer creators as well as subscribers new ways to interact and develop a more intimate community.

Among the options offered by this subscription, we will find exclusive “Direct”, exclusive Stories, and a badge, which will appear next to the subscriber’s name to differentiate them in comments.

Initially, and just like subscriptions on Facebook, Meta will not charge any fees and all revenue will go to the creators. At least until 2023, when Mark Zuckerberg’s company might pocket a percentage of the revenue. On the price side, content creators will be able to range from $0.99 to $99.99 per month.

For Adam Mosseri, boss of the social network, these subscriptions would be the best way to guarantee a stable income for influencers. It is above all a good way to compete with TikTok, or even Twitch, which also offer tools to remunerate creators.
