A young man who tried to smuggle pythons by hiding them in his pants was arrested. The incident took place in the US. 36-year-old Calvin Bautista tried to cross the border with three Burmese pythons. He was arrested at the US-Canadian border crossing.
And pythons are listed as dangerous to humans under federal law. According to a news release from US Attorney Carla B. Friedman’s office, Bautista was arraigned Tuesday in Albany on federal smuggling charges and released.

Importation of Burmese pythons is illegal here under international treaties.Trafficking Burmese pythons is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to federal prosecutors.
