Balveer Singh is a 2020 batch IPS officer with a BE degree from IIT Bombay. He took charge as ASP in Ambasamudram Police Division on October 15, 2022.

All 10 youths were arrested on charges of conflict over romantic relationship, lending money, breaking CCTV cameras and marital dispute. A police official told The New Indian Express that the police officers of the intelligence unit were aware of Singh’s behavior from the beginning and if they had brought it to the notice of higher officials, these youths would not have had to face the brutal torture. This police officer was present when the torture took place.

Chellappa, a young man, had revealed to The New Indian Express that he and his two brothers were harassed and their teeth pulled out at Ambasamudram police station. Chellappa and his brothers had revealed that after removing their uniforms, wearing shorts and gloves, the brutal beating began. They run a mutton stall in Sivantipuram.

There was a dispute between the relatives of the groom and the bride over the marriage. Then 10 people were brought to Ambasamudram police station. The injured revealed that their teeth were pulled out and their lips were smashed after being stuffed with soil. A battered man said three of his teeth were pulled out by the player.

When Mariyappan, who had recently got married, started beating him, his accomplices tried to stop the young IPS officer. Singh continued to beat him despite his relatives begging him that he was a new groom and not to beat him. After that, his testicles were beaten and crushed and brutalized. Mariappan was seriously injured in the attack. Political organizations including Netaji Subhash Sena and Puratchi Bharat started protest demanding action against ASP.
