Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office Criminal Division 6 (Chief Prosecutor Kim Young-nam) will conduct a second suspect interrogation of Representative Lee on charges of third-party bribery starting at 2 p.m. on this day.

The suspicion of Ssangbangwool Group’s remittance to North Korea is that Kim Seong-tae, former chairman of Ssangbangwool Group, received $5 million in support project expenses for the creation of a North Korean smart farm that Gyeonggi Province should have paid at the request of former Gyeonggi Province Deputy Governor Lee Hwa-young in 2019, and $3 million in expenses for the Gyeonggi Province Governor’s visit to North Korea requested by North Korea at the time. A total of $8 million was sent to North Korea.

Prosecutors believe that CEO Lee is involved in the Ssangbangwool loan.

In the first summons investigation held on the 9th, the prosecution prepared a 150-page questionnaire, but considering the health condition of Representative Lee, who was fasting, they selected only key questions and conducted the investigation.

The first investigation started at 10:30 am and ended at 6:40 pm, 8 hours later.

Afterwards, the reading proceeded for about 2 hours and 40 minutes, but Representative Lee stopped the reading without signing and sealing the reading report, saying that the purpose of his statement was not properly reflected.

The prosecution notified Representative Lee to reappear at 10 a.m. on the 12th for the remainder of the investigation, but Representative Lee announced in a briefing the previous day that he would appear at 1:30 p.m.

The remaining investigations by the prosecution include the payment of $3 million for the Gyeonggi Province Governor’s visit to North Korea among the suspicions of remittances to North Korea, various suspicions of obstruction of justice surrounding the prosecution’s investigation and trial, and suspicions of former Chairman Kim Seong-tae’s fraudulent donations.

Since only half of the questions prepared in the first investigation have been answered, it is expected that the prosecution will proceed with the investigation quickly, identifying only key questions in the second investigation.

As with the last time, the investigation on this day will be conducted by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Song Min-kyung (43, 37th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute) and Prosecutor Park Sang-yong (42, 38th class). Medical staff and ambulances will be deployed in case of emergency.

The prosecution plans to conclude the investigation of Representative Lee with the summons on this day.

After completing the first investigation on the 9th, Representative Lee told reporters, “I was not presented with a single piece of evidence that I expected,” and “I feel sympathy for the political prosecutors who are trying to fabricate a crime with information that cannot be common sense,” he said, calling for the prosecution’s investigation. criticized directly.
