Weko is investigating two Office World subsidiaries
The Competition Commission is investigating the two companies Oridis and Ecomedia on suspicion of illegal price fixing. House searches were carried out at various locations.
The Competition Commission (Weko) has targeted two companies in the Office World stationery group. The authority announced on Thursday that there was a suspicion that resale prices had been agreed.
The focus is on the wholesale companies Oridis and Ecomedia, both of which belong to the Office World Group. They deal in printer accessories and office supplies.
According to Weko, producers of printer accessories and office supplies sell their products, among other things, via wholesalers such as the two companies mentioned. They then sell the products to online dealers, from whom consumers or companies buy office supplies and printer supplies.
19 shops and several online shops
According to the announcement, there are indications that the two wholesalers had influenced the resale prices of various online retailers. “As a result, the companies involved could have made vertical price agreements that are illegal under antitrust law,” according to ComCo.
House searches were carried out at various locations as part of the investigation. It will now be checked whether there are actually restrictions on competition that are inadmissible under antitrust law. The presumption of innocence applies to companies.
According to its own information, the Office World Group is the leading provider of office supplies and office technology in Switzerland. The group operates 19 of its own stores and several online shops. In addition, she is a close partner of around 2000 local specialist dealers and retail chains. The Office World Group generates annual sales of around 400 million Swiss francs.
