The fifth beta of iOS 17 released last night does not contain any big changes. We are reaching a stage of development where Apple engineers only make small adjustments here and there.

The most significant change is in the App Store. By browsing the store on iOS 17 beta 5 or on macOS Sonoma beta 5you may have said to yourself “Something has changed, but I can’t see what. » Take a good look at the screenshot below. What has changed in your opinion?

These are the “Get” and “Update” buttons! On iOS 16 and macOS Ventura, these buttons are all caps, thus: “GET” and “UPDATE”. On newer systems, they change to lowercase. It’s not going to change the face of the world, but it was well worth an explanation.

In the other minor developments of beta 5, there is the appearance of a new message (not yet translated into French) when you open private browsing for the first time in Safari. This message suggests enabling the option to protect private tabs by Face/Touch ID or device passcode. Whether or not you activate this new option, you can modify this setting followingwards (Settings > Safari > Require use of Face ID to unlock Private Browsing).

In addition, Apple has clarified a message related to Live Voicemail, a function only available in North America, and added small details in various places of the system.
