The 7th round of negotiations will be held 10 days after the conclusion of the 6th round of negotiations held in Malaysia last month, and is expected to be the last official negotiation of the year.
In this negotiation, the participating countries will resolve remaining issues with the goal of achieving results within the year in the areas of trade (pillar 1), clean economy (pillar 3), and fair economy (pillar 4), excluding the supply chain (pillar 2), which was concluded in May. Try to reach an agreement.
The government will participate in the negotiations by forming a delegation of about 20 ministries, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science and ICT, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with Noh Geon-ki, head of the Trade Negotiation Office at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, as the chief representative.
Director Geon-ki Noh said, “If the results of IPEF are achieved, we expect that the trade environment will improve by improving regulatory transparency in the region and that domestic companies will expand their entry into the regional market,” and added, “We will do our best to achieve maximum results.” .
IPEF was officially launched in May of last year under the leadership of the US administration of Joe Biden, and 14 countries, including the US, Korea, Japan, Australia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, New Zealand, and Fiji, are participating. .
