iPhone 15 and 15 Pro: all models must have a 48 MP camera and price may rise

Apple can finally retire the 12 MP sensor from the iPhone line by including 48 MP main camera on all models in the iPhone 15 family in this year. The information was reinforced by more than one source this week.

According to a report obtained from Apple’s production chain by the Chinese newspaper ITHome, Sony has been working at full capacity to deliver the 48 MP sensor that will be used in all 2023 models.

With that, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus should match their Pro brothers not only in using the new dynamic island on the display, something that was also restricted to Pro variants in the current generation.

With these major changes in the field of cameras and display, the only topics that should still differentiate the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus from the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models include the A17 chipset and the periscope camera.

Despite the advance in some points, the standard models are already expected to use the SoC Apple A16 Bionic, while the Pro should have the exclusivity of the A17.

Still, another important detail that deserves to be mentioned also involves the presence of a USB-C port on all iPhones this year, something that is considered a courtesy of the European Union.

Of course, these significant changes to the iPhone 15 Pro line may require a price increase and Chinese sources are betting that this might happen this year. With that, the model iPhone 15 Pro Max may cost $200 morecausing its final price to rise from US$ 1,099 (~R$ 5,344) to US$ 1,299 (~R$ 6,316) in the United States.

On the other hand, the tendency is for the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus to maintain the prices of the previous generation, while the 15 Pro may have an increase of US$ 100.

As usual, Apple has yet to comment on the matter.
