iPhone end call button will be repositioned in iOS 17

The tests of iOS 17 have advanced as expected, but one of the several changes implemented by Apple in the next operating system was certainly not expected by users. More precisely, one of the buttons most touched by those who actually use the iPhone as a cell phone has been repositioned: the end calls.

In this sense, the app’s bindings interface Telephone (Phone) presents a change that moves the well-known red button closer to the other buttons, unlike how it is in iOS 16 (isolated at the bottom of the screen).

As you can see in the images above, in general, all the buttons were moved to the bottom of the screen in iOS 17, which made it possible for the end call button to be positioned next to them. There was also a relocation of them, as well as the removal of the button that allows you to view your contact list during a call.

Technically, the new interface was made available with the first beta version of iOS 17 last June, but it wasn’t widely noticed until this week, as per released by CNBC.

Of course, the change, even though it occurred during the iOS 17 testing phase, generated some controversy. In that sense, how noticed by The Vergesome users have argued that this could “disrupt years of muscle memory” and result in people activating FaceTime when they really want to end a call.

Even if the change reaches the final version of the system, which could be made available to everyone in mid-September, there is always a chance that Apple will make this adjustment more flexible, as it did with the Safari address bar in iOS 15.

And you, what did you think?
