Rituraj Gaikwad scored a half century for Chennai. Gaikwad hit 73 off 48 balls, including five fours and five sixes. Robin Uthappa was out for just three runs in the opening over. Moin Ali scored just one run. Ambati Rayudu scored 46 runs. Shivam Dubey scored 19 and Ravindra Jadeja 22 not out.
Alsari Joseph took two wickets for Gujarat. Mohammad Shami and Yash Dayal took one wicket each.
Gujarat won the toss and elected to field Hardik Pandya will be replaced by Rashid Khan in Gujarat today.
